about

Over the last few years, I slowed down. From counting countries that I travelled to, I started enjoying my daily life. I vowed to make my house a home, a space where I felt I'm on vacation and relaxed.

I think it was a couple of years ago when I fell in love with an artwork by a local artist, it was in an old secondhand bookstore in Brussels. I climbed upstairs, which, in all honestly, had cobwebs and a few older folks.

My mission was to find a few English language classics, but in a far corner, I found a few rolled sheets of thick paper. As I pulled one of them open, I was delighted to find an old sketch of a man, sitting on a horse, playing a trumpet, a fine print from the artist Giovanni Fattori. That was the start of my search for paintings from all the places I travel to.

I visit local cafes, I'm a huge fan of matcha (you would know since you are reading this blog), I love it when I walk into a cafe and my Wi-Fi automatically connects and the staff know what I want. I spend time in libraries, art galleries, hole in the wall restaurants, sitting on my camping chair overlooking the water, walking, reading at home, painting (I'm not very good). I like to be surrounded by candles, books and plants. And hopefully cats. in the near future.

I have a morning ritual where I make green tea. I mix tea leaves, dried fruits, dried roses, and just sit and enjoy some hot tea. I feel that this ritual forces me to pause before a busy day ahead. It pushes me to enjoy those few minutes where I have only one task - to drink tea - and I close the multiple open tabs for those precious few minutes.

PS. I live in Dubai, been here for a decade and consider it home. While I do travel quite a lot, I love coming home. I do have another blog where I write about my AI, travel, people, design, culture, basically whatever crosses my mind that I cannot stop thinking about, green spaces in busy cities, cats, trees, the sea. You can check it here.

x thank you for stopping by my blog.
